It’s not often you find an opportunity like this. Today, plant-based dog food brand Omni announced that they are looking to pay one lucky dog owner £30,000 pro-rata to go 100% plant-based, alongside their dog, for three months!
The ideal candidate will record all of their experiences of introducing a plant-based diet to themselves and their dog. This involves completing a weekly questionnaire monitoring health, energy levels, behaviour, bowel movements, sleep patterns, alongside other areas of interest.
Following on from another successful Veganuary, the posting for the job states that the successful candidate will ideally start as soon as possible. The salary works out at £2,500 per month, with expenses to cover all food for the person, plus an adequate supply of dog food for the duration of the three month position. The applicant will also be given a range of recipe ideas to ensure a healthy and balanced diet.
And because it isn’t only you taking on a new job, by way of payment, Omni will gift your dog a range of sustainable dog toys and vegan treats to keep them happy between meals and to help continue with their plant-based lifestyle.
Sound interesting? Applications close on 31 January and the link to apply can be found on the Omni website.
The aim of this project comes from Omni’s vision of helping dogs to live healthier lives whilst also lowering the carbon paw print on the planet through meat-free or flexitarian diets.
Omni understands that there are many pre-existing beliefs around plant-based diets for dogs, as well as incorrect and negative connotations. So through the results of this research, they hope to dispel any myths whilst positively communicating the vast benefits on offer of a meat-free lifestyle for dogs, and of course, humans.
Applicants need to be from the UK and over 18 years of age. There is no need to have any particular qualifications, merely the willingness for a non-vegan and their dog to experience and document their time trialling a new diet.
Dr. Guy Sandelowsky, veterinarian and co-founder of Omni, said,
“The vegan lifestyle doesn’t appeal to everyone but there are credible studies coming out that show excellent digestibility of plant-based foods, with many owners remarking how healthy and happy their dogs are once they make the switch. We believe that there is no better time than now to make the change to help you and your dog’s health, and reduce the strain on the planet.
We came up with this idea for the job so dog owners can experience the positive benefits of switching to an all-plant diet at the same time as their pet. We think it’s a great opportunity to prove and really drive home the message that plant-based and vegan food can be beneficial to both humans and dogs. We are sure many will jump at the chance to get paid to do something they were considering already – and have their food expenses covered too!”
Good luck with your applications!
