If you want to spend a fruitful weekend, plotting the plant-powered takeover of our food systems, then here’s the perfect event for you! The mission-driven team at Plant Futures gears up to present its 2023 Plant Futures Symposium titled, “PAVING PLANT-BASED PATHWAYS: EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF FOOD SYSTEM LEADERS”. Plant Futures is a non-profit that is at the forefront of the rapidly growing plant-based movement. They champion the innovative minds of our generation and fuel the momentum for a food system transformation to one that is better for our planet, animals, and ourselves. Since its inception three years ago, its inventive systems-thinking curriculum and silo-busting community model have been incorporated at several institutions across the country and even the world!

The 2023 symposium will bring this global community of game-changers to a central dais at UC Berkeley, but can be live-streamed around the world! The event will span two days – Saturday, January 28th, and Sunday, January 29th, 2023 – and run from 9 AM to 5 PM PST

To foster a communal learning experience, the symposium will feature inspiring experts and industry leaders from across the globe, opportunities to connect with an international, cross-disciplinary network of Plant Futurists, and inspiration to pave a new path forward together.

Attendees will hear from the legendary scientist and award-winning author Marion Nestle, and chef and activist Michel Nischan, as the keynote speakers.

Distinguished speakers include Dr. Priera Panescu, Senior Scientist at Good Food Institute; AJ Albrecht, Managing Director at Mercy for Animals; Nivi Jaswal Founder and President of The Virsa Foundation, Drs. Ayesha and Dean Sherzai from the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program at Loma Linda University, to name a few.

The diversity in session topics ranges from innovations in the plant-based food space and nutritional science to the ethics of cultured meat and discussions on social justice and food security and beyond! Best bet there will be plenty of engaging talks for folks of all interests in the plant-based and vegan space.

The 2023 Plant Futures Symposium was designed to be accessible to as many people as possible. So, the team adapted a ticket-for-donation model where all ticket purchases will be used towards furthering all Plant Futurists’ plant-powered solutions for a healthy and just future for our planet.

Interested enthusiasts are invited to register and get their key to unlock a treasure chest of ideas, solutions, inspirations, and new relationships to grow our burgeoning community!

“Our generation is fed up with the food system, but we are doing something about it. The emerging generation is demanding a better future and a better food system for all – with plants at the center. But we can’t do it alone. Together we are stronger, and the Plant Futures Symposium is the first of its kind event that brings together leaders in the movement who will accelerate the transition to a plant-centric food system. Join us!”
