"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food," the phrase coined by Hippocrates is the guiding light for Aratham’s Founders, Tiffanie Dyer and Gabriel Vera.

In 2019, the duo used their 30 years of experience in the food and beverage industry working for top US hotels and restaurants, to create their plant-based meal delivery company, Aratham.  Aratham seeks to provide healthy and organic plant-based meals that are financially accessible to a wider audience.

A year after starting Aratham, Gabriel left his corporate job and shared that while he wishes he would’ve started sooner, he knows everything happens when it should. He and Tiffanie strongly believe this was the right path not only for their family but also for the greater community. “The world needs more awareness, this is what we’re leaving for our kids,” Gabriel said. That passion and energy fueled their drive to share their mission throughout Metro Detroit.

There was no looking back or plan B. “When you hesitate, that’s when problems happen,” Gabriel shared.

Their mission for health and wellness keeps them laser-focused on providing quality food and avoiding anything harmful to people or the planet, right down to their compostable containers, everything matters. During Gabriel’s many years in the food and beverage industry, he shared that he felt, “others don’t read or respect the ingredients, they think it’s just an object, but it’s something to nurture our bodies.”

Cooking with a clear intention for their clients is key for the team at Aratham.

Through their meal delivery service, clients can choose from a selection of 14 different main dishes, 8 of which change weekly. The dishes include breakfast bowls like a superfood oat bowl packed with seeds and other superfoods, healthy salads and sandwich options for lunch, and hearty homemade vegetable “butter” masalas or mac-n-cheese for dinner. Aside from an array of tasty entrees, they also offer four cold-pressed juice options, a homemade dessert, and the option to add on a basket of fresh, whole fruits and veggies. Their affordable meals are $10.99 each, which includes local delivery (within a 25-mile radius of Troy, MI).

Over the last two years, they have grown from just serving a small audience in Metro Detroit to serving over 2,000 meals a week in Metro Detroit, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. They are currently working on expanding their plant-based food footprint to New York. Currently, 70% of their business is based in Metro Detroit and 30% is out of state.

Aside from meal deliveries, they have been hard at work developing their first Aratham grab-n-go store which will feature their signature meals, juices, desserts, and a diverse selection of local products. The first store will be in Troy, Michigan with an opening date slated for June 1, 2021.

But, their plant-based expansion doesn’t end in Troy.

Over the next 2 – 3 years, their goal is to expand their plant-based grab-n-go business to, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Chicago, and The Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Once established, their goal is to create a franchise in the hopes of reaching an even larger audience with their healthy plant-based fare.

It’s clear, the key to their current successes is their knowledge, passion, and desire to keep pushing on when it’s difficult. “It’s not about us, it’s about everyone else and the planet, this is what the world and our family needs,” Gabriel said.
